WHY YOGA FOR MMA
The concept of Yoga dedicated to Mixed Martial Arts is probably a very old one, as Yoga formed the basis of the ancient Gymkana of India where sports and martial arts were varied. Grappling this idea and incorporating it into today's MMA is easy to do when one thinks about the wear and tear experienced by fighters over the long haul. They experience trauma to the joints, the neck, spine, head, ears and most importantly-the silent enemy-the release of an over abundance of free radicals, which are what put the fighter's health and longevity at serious risk over time. The more active the training is, the more dangerous free radicals are released. Which is why we see so many people who train regularly, eat a good diet and look in shape suddenly become seriously ill.
Yoga is one of the antidotes to free radical production in the body and actually reverses it if applied correctly. The less free radicals, the younger the fighter stays and the longer he can stay in the octagon if he wishes. Applied correctly, Yoga will also increase HGH or Human Growth Hormone. My MMA Yoga will increase visual and motor acuity and completely de-stress the body on the cellular level allowing it to repair completely before the next bout. Like I always say, this is not your grandmother's Yoga. It's training geared to reduce repetitive stress injuries, increase stamina, stability, flexibility, recovery and to give every fighter "the edge". This is MMA Yoga On The Mat.
